Is there other life out there in space?

q.gif (1639 bytes)    Even though the BIBLE says there is no other life than us, why is there so much space for nothing? I believe the BIBLE, but maybe there is other life. maybe we are not ready to know about the other life......yet?

a.gif (1659 bytes)    According to the Bible, there is only life upon the earth, and no other planets. Isaiah 45:18 says, "For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, HE FORMED IT TO BE INHABITED: I am the LORD; and there is none else." God only formed the earth to be inhabited, and no other planets. Can man then live on the moon, or in space stations? Only with the help and supplies from planet earth. Life cannot be sustained naturally on any other planet.

You asked, "Why is there so much space for nothing?" We do not know all the reasons why there is so much space, but we do know some of the reasons.

First, there is so much space out there to show the glory and limitlessness of our God. Psalm 19:1-4 says, "THE HEAVENS DECLARE THE GLORY OF GOD; AND THE FIRMAMENT SHOWETH HIS HANDIWORK. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun."

In what kind of a house does an established, successful carpenter or architect live? Something plain, simple, and small? Not usually. Usually it is on the larger side with many roof lines, fancy bathrooms, spacious bedrooms, cathedral ceilings, and fancy kitchen cupboards and laminate work. Why do they build such homes? One reason is to show their customers the kind of work that they can do. The customer can see it right before his eyes, and thus take confidence that the carpenter can handle building his house, too, and can do a good job. Is such a house expensive to build? Yes, but advertising is also very expensive, too. No doubt the carpenter could live in something much less extravagant, but it is partly to show the customer that he can fulfill his wishes for a dream home. Hebrews 3:3,4 says, "For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as HE WHO HATH BUILDED THE HOUSE HATH MORE HONOUR THAN THE HOUSE. For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God." So the house, more than glorifying itself, causes people to have great admiration and respect for the maker of that house. That is one reason that there is so much space out there with countless stars — to show man the unlimited power and knowledge of God.

Every time that man creates a larger telescope, what happens? Does he finally reach the end of the stars? No, he only finds that there are billions more stars out there that he could not see before with his smaller telescope. As Psalm 19 said, "THE HEAVENS DECLARE THE GLORY OF GOD; AND THE FIRMAMENT SHOWETH HIS HANDIWORK." Psalm 147:3-5 says, "He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. HE TELLETH THE NUMBER OF THE STARS; HE CALLETH THEM ALL BY THEIR NAMES. GREAT IS OUR LORD, AND OF GREAT POWER: HIS UNDERSTANDING IS INFINITE."

When a person is broken-hearted, that person often feels rejected and unimportant to anyone. They may feel like no one really cares about them, or no one knows what they are facing, or no one can really do anything about the problems. But God knows the number of the stars, so surely He knows the number of men. God knows the names of every one of those stars — names, not just numbers — so God surely knows the name of every person. Can you imagine being able to recognize and remember the names of each one of those billions of stars? If God can do that, then He surely knows us by name, and knows all about the problems that we face. Truly, the Lord is great and of great power. His understanding is truly infinite. All of that space out there shows us that.

Why do we know that there is no other life out there in space, other than God and the angels, as the Bible tells us? Because it is the sin here upon earth, that will cause the destruction of the entire universe — which includes all of that space out there.

The Bible talks about three heavens. The first heaven is what we would call the "atmosphere" — that place in the sky where there is oxygen to breathe. Job 35:10,11 says, "But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night; Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than THE FOWLS OF HEAVEN?" Jeremiah 4:24,25 says, I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and ALL THE BIRDS OF THE HEAVENS were fled." So the first heaven is that part of the sky where the birds can fly. It is the place where there is oxygen to breathe. It is the place we call the "atmosphere."

The second heaven is what we would normally call "space." It is the place where the sun, moon, and planets are. Genesis 1:14-17 says, "And God said, LET THERE BE LIGHTS IN THE FIRMAMENT OF THE HEAVEN to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for LIGHTS IN THE FIRMAMENT OF THE HEAVEN to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; THE GREATER LIGHT TO RULE THE DAY, and THE LESSER LIGHT TO RULE THE NIGHT: HE MADE THE STARS ALSO. And GOD SET THEM IN THE FIRMAMENT OF THE HEAVEN to give light upon the earth." So the second heaven is where the sun, moon, stars, and planets are.

The third heaven is the dwelling place of God. It is the place that we cannot see with our eyes. II Corinthians 12:1-4 says, "It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one CAUGHT UP TO THE THIRD HEAVEN. And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) How that he was CAUGHT UP INTO PARADISE, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter." Luke 23:39-43 says, "And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. AND JESUS SAID UNTO HIM, VERILY I SAY UNTO THEE, TO DAY THOU SHALT BE WITH ME IN PARADISE." So the third heaven is paradise, the very dwelling place of God.

This is important, because what is taking place here upon earth is going to affect all of space. It is like there is two focal points — earth, and heaven, the dwelling place of God. The other two "heavens" (the atmosphere, and space) are going to be destroyed in a moment — as fast as a window shade can roll up. Isaiah 34:1-5 says, "Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it. For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter. Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood. And ALL THE HOST OF HEAVEN SHALL BE DISSOLVED, AND THE HEAVENS SHALL BE ROLLED TOGETHER AS A SCROLL: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment."

Notice what happens at a certain point during the Tribulation Period upon earth. A judgment falls here, and it affects the atmosphere and all of space. Revelation 6:12-17 says, "And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and THE SUN BECAME BLACK as sackcloth of hair, and THE MOON BECAME AS BLOOD; And THE STARS OF HEAVEN FELL unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And THE HEAVEN DEPARTED AS A SCROLL WHEN IT IS ROLLED TOGETHER; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and HIDE US FROM THE FACE OF HIM THAT SITTETH ON THE THRONE, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?" Everything from earth to heaven was suddenly rolled up as a scroll and removed out of the way so man could see God on the throne. What we are talking about is "all of that space" out there. Only two places are important in that scene — earth, and heaven, where God dwells.

Another reason from the Bible that we know that there is no other life out there, other than God and the angels, is because we are not playing some type of game with God. God gave HIS ONLY begotten Son to die for our sins. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Salvation is not a game that God is playing with each universe that He has created here and there. God only has ONE SON, and He sent Him here to die for us.

God has chosen not to make robots, but beings fully capable of making decisions and choices on their own. The angels can make their own decisions, and some have made the wrong ones, and have chosen "against" God. Matthew 25:41 says, "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for THE DEVIL AND HIS ANGELS." Some of the angels rebelled against God with Satan. Jude 6 says, "And THE ANGELS WHICH KEPT NOT THEIR FIRST ESTATE, BUT LEFT THEIR OWN HABITATION, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day." Some angels left their rightful place, and went beyond the boundaries which God had set for them, so God chained them under darkness until the Judgment Day.

If God had made some other form of life somewhere, it would also sin — just like the angels and mankind have done. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." God only has one Son, and He sent Him to die for our sins.

The Mormon religion makes this all out to be some kind of game that God is playing with earths and saviors. They try to say that man can one day be the "god and savior" of his own world — just like Jesus is of this one. That is blasphemy! No, this is not a game that God is playing with mankind. Romans 5:8-10 says, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life." He came a long way to die for us. Have you repented of your sin and received Him as your Savior?
