a.gif (1659 bytes)   The Christian knows that the Holy Spirit is within him/her by faith.  2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we WALK BY FAITH, not by sight.”

That faith is not a blind leap in the dark, but it has substance to it, and evidence.  Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for, the EVIDENCE of things not seen.”

That faith comes by reading and hearing the Bible.  Romans 10:17 says, “So then FAITH COMETH BY HEARING, and hearing by THE WORD OF GOD.”

The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit abides within us.  John 14:15-17 says, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;  Even THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for HE DWELLETH WITH YOU, and SHALL BE IN YOU.”

Not only does the Christian know that the Holy Spirit is within him/her, but also that the Father and the Son are, as well.  John 14:23 says, '”Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and WE WILL COME unto him, and MAKE OUR ABODE WITH HIM.”

That makes perfect sense that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit indwell the Christian, because all three are One.  1 John 5:7 says, “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the FATHER, the WORD, and the HOLY GHOST: and THESE THREE ARE ONE.”
